Deployment with Hardware Load balancing.

A report server Web farm is a collection of report server instances that
share the same report server database. Reporting Services does not provide
Web farm deployment functionality. To deploy Reporting Services in a Web
farm, you can use network load balancing (NLB) functionality provided
through Windows servers, Microsoft Application Center, or third-party
software that supports Web farm deployment. The load balancer can be
software or hardware.

would deploy a multi node reporting server with hardware load balancing.
Note: Database tier is being deployed as active/active SQL Cluster.
1. Deploy the initial reporting services server node as per a vanilla
install.
2. Deploy any subsequent nodes by joining the nodes to the initial reporting
services node by specifying the RSWEBFARMSERVER property in the installation
3. Overlay the web nodes with either a hardware or software load balancing
solution.

Reporting Services install has to be Enterprise. Plus, for each server in
the web farm with Reporting Services you need an SQL Server Enterprise
license.

>|||I'm operating in exactly this configuration. As mentioned by others,
its really straight forward to setup:
Prerequsites:
- A Sql Server 2000 Enterprise instance with SP3a
Installation:
1) Install Sql Reporting 2000 Enterprise on the first web server.
During installation it creates the needed ReportServer and
ReportServerTempDb databases.
2) Install Sql Reporting 2000 Enterprise on each subsequent server in
Farm and point them at the ReportServer DB created in step 1. (repeat
for each additional server)
3) Deploy RDL's via ReportsServer web service from any of the servers
(since they share the same DB and therefore will share the RDL's once
they are uploaded).
4) Start using your servers. (or begin applying Service packs)
Note: SP2 will require one extra step which is to run RSActivate in
order to join your additional Report Server nodes to the group. In
pre-SP2 installations, this is done automatically for you.
One thing to consider when doing the F5 setup; make sure to setup
Server Affinity using a time-based session so you don't run into any
problems with ASP.NET post-backs. Typically I set the session
expiration to 40 minutes, but it all depends upon your
user-characteristics. Also I have found it helpful to utilize the
"Least Used" algorithm rather than the default "Round Robin" approach
to load balancing.
Obviously, there are numerous architectural and infrastructural
decisions required throughout this process, but this should give you
the 10k meter view.
I am happy with F5 for load balancing so far, so I hope this works out
for you.

The RSWEBFARMSERVER property is specified in the command prompt. To install
a web farm, you have to specify the RSDATABASENAME and RSDATABASESERVER
property in the command prompt.

I'm also F5 Hardware load balancing, but I'm running into a problem.
Right now, we have 2 web servers in a cluster, and an F5 load balancer
infront of it. Both web servers have Kerberos delegation enabled, and
I can access Reporting services via Web Service just fine when I access
the web servers directly. However, when I put the F5 load balancer
infront, I get an Authentication error. The load balancer appears to
be sending my credentials as Anonymous! Has this happened to anyone?
Is there a Kerberos setting on this F5 hardware load balancer? I'm
unfamiliar with the hardware, and I'm trying to contact my IT
department to contact the vendor. That might take a while. I'm hoping
someone here has an answer.

Deployment options help!
Sorry I am a newbie in SSIS.
I have got a small project that requires to feed in a .CSV flat file and load the data into SQL server 2000.
I developed a SSIS package for this and get it working in my computer, but I need to deploy it to customers that they don't have VS 2005 or SSIS installed. May any one of you give me some clues on that?
I played around with the flat file deployment and again it seems only working on my computer as I have everything installed.

Deployment on load balanced servers.
Normally when we put new feature\fix live we take one server out of the loop, than we put new app code, we test it and then we bring it back to the loop. But we've started to have a problem when we had to change stored procedures at the same time to run the new app code, becouse either 'test' server won't work either production application won't work. I wonder is there any good solution for this problem.

what I understand is that your stored procedure signature is still the same but its implementation is changed in such a way that only the new application code can work with it. Your configuration is mulitple application servers talking to 1 SQL Server. In that case, let us say you have 10 application servers. I will take 5 (let us call them group-A) of those out of the loop, install new app code. Note, your app is still up and running though at 1/2 the capacity. you can test your group-A with another SQL Server (say the test SQL Server that has new stored procs). Once it is done, you can take other group of app servers offline (this will cause short term unavailability of your application), change the stored proc on the production SQL Server, and then bring group-A online. Now you can do the same with other set of application servers.

deploy to another server
I do not have access to VS, but I hear it can do this... how can I do it without VS?
I am using CREATE ASSEMBLY to load dll form my server to SQLServer on my server (Same machine). How can I load the dll to another server? Do I have to write it on a directory on that server first? I tried to run the command from my pc connected to the other server, and I get a "cannot find file" error.
The FROM clause in CREATE ASSEMBLY can either take a path to the dll (which is what you are doing), but it can also instead of the path take the binary representation of the dll.
So in your case, you can either use a path which the remote server accesses and has permissions to - or you can take the binary representation of the assembly instead.

CREATE ASSEMBLY <asm_name> FROM 0x...
where 0x... is the hex binary representation.
The simplest way to get this is the use Management Studio. Choose the assembly in the object explorer, and click Script Assembly As -> Create To > New Query Editor Window. This will output the right syntax for you.
An alternative is code like below to convert the assembly to binary.

Dependency based scheduling
I am scheduling a .bat at 9.00 am to load a text file in a table A in SQL Server 2000 database. If this load is successful, I want to trigger another .bat file to execute a store proc.
Can I do this dependency based scheduling in SQL Server Scheduler and if so, can you give me details (references, books) as to how it can be done?

ShekI'd create a job with a couple of job steps. SQL server Books Online has info on sp_add_job and sp_add_jobstep. You can use XP_CMDSHELL to execute the bat files within the job steps.|||The job scheduler supports multipule tasks within one job. You can specify what action should be taken based on the success or failure of a task.
I susspect you could work through this just by setting up a test job in the job scheduler. Books Online, SQL Server Help, has a good writeup on this.
Look up "jobs" in the index. Also within jobs scan down to the sub topic of steps.
